Custom Font Bevel Reflect for Gimp 2.10

Re: Custom Font Bevel Reflect for Gimp 2.10
Thank you so much Skinnyhouse, something is better as it didn't stop and no warnings. But the result isn't good.

I see this as a big step forward - at least you have an output! And it looks like a custom font (a weird one admittedly).
Let's do some baby steps together...
Use the Bizarrerie Tester from the Resources folder and add a plain red layer and create a red face for all the characters.
Set the foreground and background colours to white and black.
Use the these dialog settings...
Click on OK in the dialog and let it do its work...
Then see if your outcome is the same as mine below.
If you get similar results then I think that all is as it should be. I think one of the important features of the filter is setting the foreground and background colours to create the right amount of contrast to use on the character bevels.

Yes!!!!! It has worked great, I think. Just as you said.

I think you have a working custom font bevel reflect filter Issa. (Deep sigh of relief.)
Things to be aware of - that I have found so far - bearing in mind that I am quite new to the Bevel Reflect Logo experience.
When using the filter for making completely new font faces:
Use a mid-grey coloured plain font face as the starting point.
Be aware of the current foreground and background colours - if they are too similar in tone the filter may not produce the type of highlights that you achieved above. (They need not always need to be black and white.)
I tend to go with the lighter colour as the foreground.
Depending on how the light direction has been set, you may get better results by reversing the foregound/background colours.
Emaps produce results that are sometimes amazing and sometimes very disappointing.
Same applies when using the active gradient map type options.
The active colour ie current Foreground Colour should produce a plain colour highlighted character - like the one you created above.
When using the filter to create highlights for an existing (fancy) font face:
Ensure that you have chosen one of the desaturate emap options (unless you want to apply new colours to existing ones).
Make sure that you again have lots of contrast in your foregound/background colours.
Be prepared for the unexpected.
Hope this helps and best of luck!

Thank you very much for your guide to follow and for your study to solve the problem. I will take into account all the indications that you have told me from now on.

It's worth it just to see the custom fonts you will create Issa!
My first font created only thanks Skinnyhouse. I'm very happy to have got this nice effect with such a smart tool.

Hi Pat, you are right, but I would really prefer to avoid an unnecessary update. And as Skinnyhouse commented in post #29 there is no real reason to go from version 1.6 to 1.7.
Skinnyhouse, you are fantastic!
In addition to creating incredible plugins, you provide all the support for those who want to learn how to use them; either through perfect tutorials, or answering questions in the forums, or readjusting plugins if necessary.
Custom_Font_Bevel_Reflect_BRL_1_6.py ran beautifully! I loved that I didn't have to apply the plugin letter by letter, the plugin does the whole task alone! I didn't even need to convert the layer to the image size.
I won't be able to play properly with the plugin for now, I'm already 5 days with a strong flu, just today the fever is gone, and I haven't even used my PC, just the laptop for reading and simpler things.
Thank you very much for your effort and willingness to always help everyone!
Issa, you are our favorite guinea pig

Always testing new plugins and scripts, whether new or updates. Thanks for this further test and for reporting the issue with version 1.7 of Custom font Bevel Reflect.
By the way ... why is your Custom Font Bevel Reflect window different from mine? Your window displays all parameters without the need for a vertical scroll bar. With my version I need the AltDrag program to access the full length of that window, at least with my laptop. Thank you all!
